Thank you to all my visitors….. especially those of you who have clicked on the Google adverts. I have finally reached the payout threshold of £60 which means Google should now pay that in to my bank account in a month or so. I have had the adverts on this site for just under a year now, so by the time I receive the payment that means my blog will have earnt me about £5 per month on average. That is enough to pay for my entire web hosting costs for all my domains for about 3 years which is a pretty good bonus.
Clubcardalicious
July 27th, 2009 No Comments »I’ve been attempting to save up as many Tesco Clubcard points as possible this last quarter by keeping my eye on ‘loopholes’, using extra point vouchers and buying items with bonus points. I’ve managed to save up 7750 and the deadline has now passed. This is worth £77.50 in direct exchange at the store, or £310 in special deals.. So this is the target to hit for the next quarter then, the war is on.

Free Money Update 2009
June 10th, 2009 No Comments »Cashback
It’s official.. anyone who doesn’t use a cashback site is losing a lot of money. I’ve had a Topcashback account for just over a year now and have so far withdrawn to my actual bank account £319.38.. and I’m waiting on £42.67 to become payable, with £95.40 yet to be confirmed by various retailers. This is money for nothing, all I do is double-check the cash back web site when I am about to buy something and click through from there instead. Costs me nothing! The proof is below:

So go and sign up now and start getting the money you are missing out on, and I’ll earn £2.50 once you get your first payment: www.topcashback.co.uk/oshingler
Google Ads
If you cast your mind back a few months, I decided to monetise this blog by placing a couple of Google Ad panels on the page. The plan was to earn enough money from this to cover the costs of running my domains. I don’t earn a payout until my balance reaches $100. It’s currently at about $46 so thanks to everyone who has clicked on the adverts regularly – but please keep clicking on them when you visit as I’d really like to get the $100 in the next 12 months!
Tesco Clubcard
Even more brilliant than before. I’ve been using clubcard vouchers towards the cost of my Open University courses, but in the last couple of months I’ve discovered a method of boosting the number of points I’m earning several fold. For the last two months we’ve been doing our weekly grocery shopping online and using various voucher codes (found on the Moneysavingexpert forums) to get ‘free’ points with our shop. Every week we’ve had a voucher ranging from £5 off a shop, right up to the mega 750 extra clubcard points (worth £7.50 in vouchers, or £30 towards an OU course). In one month I’ve collected over 4000 clubcard points. Previously I was collecting that many per quarter!
Money update 2009
March 16th, 2009 No Comments »Remember a while back I talked about the monetisation of this blog? You kow.. the adverts I stuck down there vv and over there >>. Well I thought I’d give you an update on my earnings so far. As of today, my blog has earnt me…. wait for it…… $33.15. OK, so not a lot at all, but I’m pretty much a third of the way to my payout goal of $100, and if I can achieve that by the end of the year then it will cover all my web hosting costs for two years… so $50 a year is all I need to raise. Note that this also covers the cost of running all my other domains including www.bedworthdisabledswimming.co.uk so clicking on those adverts is partly for a good cause!
In other news anyway, apologies for the lack of blog postage lately – I’ve been busy doing coursework amongst other things and that has taken up valuable computer time. I’ve still got a couple of pieces left to do but realised I hadn’t rambled on here for a couple of weeks. I don’t want to disappoint my readership.
The collection is complete
January 3rd, 2009 2 Comments »Just when you thought I couldn’t get any sadder.. I show y0u this:

Yes, I have collected the complete 2008 ‘The Royal Arms’ coin set. It took me a few months, the final 50p coin arriving thanks to my father-in-law, and the 10p a reluctant donation from my mother but I finally have them all. And yes, I did buy a special cardboard cut-out to put them in, but it did come with the £1 coin all uncirculated and sealed from the world.
