It probably won’t

It’s well past 5 o’clock now and I’ve had no email about the dispatch of my camera, and my order status on www.elitegadgets.com hasn’t been updated either (still saying payment received). Never mind…

It might

I called up Elite Gadgets earlier to find out whether or not I’ll be getting my camera any time soon and I’ve been assured that they have received stock of the HDC-TM700 from Panasonic today and my camcorder will be dispatched this afternoon and will arrive on Monday. I await my dispatch confirmation email with tracking reference number…

MiBody Health Management: Cracked

Right, I said I’d get back to you on this one and I here I am. The HoMedics MiBody Body Management software uses an mdb (Microsoft Access) file in which it stores your personal data… two things you need to know about this:

(1) On Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the shm.mdb file in your program files directory does not contain the data you need.. instead, take a look in C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\HoMedics Mibody\shm.mdb  – note that you may not have the (x86) part of the path name if you are running 32-bit Windows… what? you’re not running 64-bit? Shame on you…

(2) shm.mdb is password protected, so as of version SE1.2 the password is 83111425397411318715

You can also use the ‘Output Data’ feature of the software to backup your data to wherever you want, and use the above password to open that database file. You’ll notice that there are several tables, labelled Table1 through to Table12. Each table stores the data for the relevant user number on the scales. You can then feel free to export the data to Excel and produce some nice fancy graphs as you please… enjoy!

It Won’t

I’ve just had a reply from the main man himself, Craig at Elite Gadgets. He’s advised me that they are having trouble with stock of the HDC-TM700 and hope to have more arriving on Friday. Craig offered me a refund if this wait is unacceptable but I have opted to wait until Friday… what’s a few more days?? Fingers are crossed in anticipation. That’s a reasonable reply from the company which could only have been improved upon if I hadn’t had to ask for the information first.

Will it or won’t it?

My latest gadget is on order… the Panasonic HDC-TM700 Camcorder which is a full high definition, solid-state, semi pro fun filled toy… should last me at least through the couple of weddings, children’s birthdays and summer holiday this year I hope. I searched around for a supplier whom I believed to offer a decent (not the best) price and are a UK based company. I placed the order (paying with a credit card… always pay safe!) with www.elitegadgets.com on Tuesday last week. I noted that they have a long turn around for delivery, taking up to 4 working days just to get your parcel in the post but I can live with that.

But… over the weekend I noticed that the camera I have ordered is now showing as out of stock on their web site. I decided I’d have a Google around and see if I could find out what was happening. I stumbled across this thread here at AV Forums which got me slightly concerned but it seems that the owner of Elite Gadgets also found the same discussion and registered to defend himself offering up his email address for anyone with any concerns. Well… I have a concern, so I’ve emailed him to ask if I will be expecting delivery of my camera within his specified time limits and I await a reply. I did try to call him yesterday and got no answer, but it was a bank holiday to be fair. So this little blog entry shall act as an impartial and near realtime account of the reliability of Elite Gadgets – today is day four of the four working days turnaround, so I expect my camera to reach their courier just after 13:00 today and arrive at my doorstep on Thursday. Start the clock!
