It’s been 9 long years but finally… new Monkey Island games! Tales of Monkey Island is being released in 5 episodes over the next few months and promises to be brilliant. The first episode is available now on Wii or PC (http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland) for £7 an episode on the Wii, or $35 on the PC for the whole caboodle. The game itself is the usual good fun to play with puzzles and random characters all over the place, but on the Wii at least (I went for the Wii version not the PC one this time around) the graphics are very dodgy (low resolution, very uneven frame rate) and the audio is appalling sounding like 1998 Internet Radio compression complete with clicks and pops when the Wii can’t cope with it. I think I’ll try the PC version for the second episode. It’s worth checking out anyway if you’re a fan of the series – Lucasarts are also remaking the original Secret of Monkey Island game too (‘Special Edition’) for the PC, xbox360 and iPhone.
