Everybody, meet the newest member of our family. Toyota Celica VVTi Premium. I picked it up this afternoon from Bristol with the help of Ken (thanks!). Leather seats, climate control, rear spoiler, metallic silver, 17″ alloys, subwoofer in the boot, electric sunroof, 38k miles on the clock and 140bhp if I should ever choose to use it. The Toyota dealer even gave me a bunch of flowers “for your good lady wife” as a sweetener. The car has a few light scratches and a bit of a crumple on the driver’s side rear wheel arch, but I think they are subtle enough to live with. We’ve kept the Scenic (as you can see in the photo below) for practical purposes – I’ve given it to Vicky.. not that the Celica isn’t practical as I managed to get Poppy and her car seat in the back earlier quite easily. The gadget ban is still on for a few more months though because I had to borrow from the bank of wife in order to get the car now instead of around Christmas. This was partly for her own advantage so as she can use the Scenic during the school holidays and have a bit more freedom but I still have to replenish her savings before I can quench my gadget thirst again. Oooh, new series of The Gadget Show starts on Monday, that might help. Or perhaps not.
