Still Waiting

We haven’t had any confirmation that our buyers have signed yet, but we presume they did this afternoon as neither our estate agent or solicitor has heared anything at all. Fingers crossed that all is well and we can exchange contracts tomorrow morning.

We had a bit of a surprise earlier when we discovered that the chain was longer than we’d previously been advised and further up the chain they were asking for a later completion date…argh! Luckily within the hour that had been rectified and we were back to the original target. As Vicky put it earlier, another restless night waiting.

Nearly there

Our solicitor phoned earlier to let me know that our buyers will hopefully be signing their contract at around 3:30 tomorrow afternoon… once that is done the entire chain will be in a position to exchange contracts and Operation Red Dragon can continue at full speed. Providing we exchange this week, our moving date is a week Friday (see the countdown in the column to the right…). I went a bit mental at the weekend packing stuff up. When I get home this weekend I’ll need to unpack my important documents folder containing all our insurance policies and various banks details and things, we’ll have a lot of things to cancel, move, advise of new addresses blah blah blah….. but for now, the clock counts down for the next few tense hours while we keep our fingers crossed that all will go well. Come on time, hurry up.

Eurgh. I hate being bunged up and all three of us are suffering from dribbly nose syndrome. Even worse I had to get up at 5am this morning to drive to Wales again. Luckily I was on autopilot so I didn’t actually have to wake up until I got in to work a few moments ago. Anyway, I’m here now so I’ll down some ’24 The Series – The Energy Drink’ and get on with some work.

How it used to be done…

Finally we are back in Blighty. With the tunnel closed we had to take a slight detour and leave earlier than planned… here’s how it went:

1 ) We took a bus from our hotel to the train station in Disneyland
2 ) We caught a train to Lille.
3 ) We caught a train from Lille to the outskirts of Calais.
4 ) We caught another train to Calais Ville.
5 ) We took a coach from the train station to the ferry port.
6 ) We took the ferry as foot passengers across to Dover.
7 ) We took shuttle bus out of Dover port.
8 ) We were bundled on to another coach which took us to Ashford International station
9 ) And finally… a taxi got us back to Ashford Holiday Inn.

Phew… then this morning we drove back to Bedworth. I’m now in the process of packing up ready for the move even though we still didn’t exchange contracts last week. We are hoping for an exchange any day now otherwise it will push back our pencilled-in move date for the last weekend in September.

I’ve got plenty of video footage from our holiday but it’ll take a while to edit down. I even got some good footage of the crowds queing with us at various stages of our journey home, the television crews filming us, and the police trying to prevent the riots. It was quite an experience being part of such a big event like that and will just add to the memories of the holiday!

I not wait, daddy!

Roll on the weekend!!!! Saturday morning will mark the official start of our holiday, and probably the last holiday we have for a long time…. Vicky has been hyping up the excitement in Poppy by showing her DVDs (aka DDDDDs) of Mickey Mouse (Miskey Mowse) and Donald Duck (Donnie Duck). When I phoned home last night all I could hear in the background was Poppy in the bath shouting “I not wait, I not wait, Miskey Mowse, Donnie Duck, Princess”. We’re going to be catching the Eurostar on Sunday morning so the first part of our holiday consists of a road trip to Ashford… sick bags on standby please. We’ll be stopping over at Vicky’s sister’s house on the way to clean up I’m sure – on which subject special loving thanks (in a manly grr pat on the back hug type of way) goes out to her boyfriend who’s got me two bottles of Mountain Dew fresh from the US of A. He knows the way to my heart.

I was also informed that my Pakistani Loach attempted suicide last night. He managed to somehow knock his castle over on top of himself requiring emergency assistance from an air crew (ie, my mom).

Hopefully in my next update I’ll be able to tell you we’re about to / have exchanged contracts and have a moving date. Finger’s crossed.
