Marmaduke the cat will let you do anything you like with him, including sitting him down in a doll sized baby bouncer. I stopped short of the sailor outfit.

Cardiff Bay’s Food Festival was a success. We started off with a stroll around the various market stalls while we waited for the main event to open, at which point we rushed in to grab samples of cheese, chocolate, cake, and other nibbles. Having a quick break for lunch (black bean burger with chilli sauce for me, venison burger for Vicky and Poppy which was dead deer) (boom boom, thank you Ken), we re-entered the arena and came away with various chocolates including chilli caramels, fudge, and a traditional welsh chillied scotch egg (??!) not to mention the chutneys and fluorescent red mustard. Finally Poppy and I went to Mario’s Ice Cream Workshop which was all going well up to the point that we’d finished our creation and were asked to take a step back for judging. Floor-based screaming tantrums took place and I think that tainted the judges decision as we didn’t win, but the creation was nice. And the best part of the day – Poppy asked to use the potty whenever she needed to and we had no accidents.
Yay! We finally had an offer put in on our house. We’ve accepted it and are now looking at potential properties to move to. I’ll hopefully have put an offer in on one early next week once we’ve discussed the ones we’ve looked at and made a decision – I’ll keep you posted.
Poppy and Vicky are in Wales this weekend and we’re going to the Cardiff Bay Food Festival tomorrow. mmmm, food.
I had the pleasure of being in the same office as HRH The Grand Old Duke Of York today. It was only briefly as he was given a quick overview of the business function in that particular part of the building which was being officially opened by his royal dukeness today. I was within 10 metres of him but didn’t get to ask him why he let his ex-wife release the crime against humanity that is Budgie the Little Helicopter. He only had a few of his ten-thousand men with him today when he turned up in his not very eco friendly Land Rover, but I expect it would have been worse for the environment had he coached them all in for the day. Anyway, they’re always busy walking up and down hills. I noted from looking at his online diary that he attended three other events today including Sony in Bridgend.. they must have been flying visits as he spent quite a while at our offices including having lunch from what I understand.
News on the house front today, we took the plunge and dropped the price rock bottom and got a viewing within a couple of hours…. so watch this space. The sad thing is that the new asking price isn’t far off what we paid for it over 3 years ago. Oh well, if it means we get to move quicker then it’ll be worth it.
After a sneezy weekend in Bedworth I was back on the road at 5:50am this morning and on my way to Wales for the week…. and greeted in my office by a security guard advising me to be careful upstairs as the building flooded over the weekend. One side of the office was completely drenched – floor tiles have been pulled up, ceiling tiles removed, dryers blowing and red tape marking out a do-not cross area. That wasn’t my side of the office though so I made my way to my desk and sat down with a squidge. Looking up I realised that my desk had been singled out as the only one this side of the office to be offered a drenching of rainwater.. it could be a few days before I can use my normal desk so for now I’m sitting at a refugee desk.
Oooh yeah, and I had my second Open Uni module result back for this course, a pleasing 89% which especially considering this piece of coursework is a written style of one (by that I mean one that is writing about stuff… essay style as opposed to calculations or programming etc…) which I’ve never had to do anything like before I am quite pleased. For a level 3 course it doesn’t seem as difficult as I was expecting – whether it’s just this module or whether my expectations were just wrong for level 3 I don’t know, but I’ve taken on board my tutor’s comments on where I dropped marks (mostly on referencing) and will amend my almost finished third module coursework to fit. Next stop, the exam, which will be the real test – I struggle with pens, stupid things… give me a stylus or keyboard any day over a stupid inky pen thing.
Still no movement on the house front… and ‘they’ are now predicting a recession in the next three months which will hamper things further. Right… I need sleep….zzzzz.
